Product description
Glenglassaugh Distillery, located near Portsoy in the Eastern Highlands, was established in 1875.
It has experienced many long-term production breaks in its history, the last one from 1986 to 2008, during which it lost its distilling license (1992). Glenglassaugh resumed production in 2008 under the ownership of Scaent, in 2013 it was taken over by BenRiach Distillery Company, and in the summer of 2016 by the American Brown-Forman Corporation. A year later, the Wood Finishes series was released, containing 4 whiskies - two Port Finishes (including peated), PX and Virgin Oak. The latter is a whisky with a smoky and peaty profile, originally aged in first-fill bourbon casks and finished in virgin oak for about two years.
Nose: vanilla cream, brown sugar, breakfast cereals, coconut flakes, peaches, a pinch of pepper, oak chips and a delicate hint of smoke.
Palate : sweet peat smoke, vanilla, honey, toffee, apricots, grapes, white pepper, candied ginger and toasted oak.
Finish: medium long and slightly smoky, with notes of vanilla, honey, oak and candied fruit.
