Product description
Glendronach Distillery was founded in 1826 by James Allardes, the son of a local landowner. William Teacher & Sons took over the plant in 1960 and doubled its production capacity. In the 1970s
Glendronach not only played a key role in the Teacher's blend, it was also one of the five most popular single malts in the world. Unfortunately, subsequent owners (Allied Distillers and Chivas Bros.) neglected the distillery and it was not until its acquisition in 2008 by the BenRiach Distillery Company that the brand was restored to its rightful status. The Glendronach presented here, distilled in 1976 (the year the distillery was acquired by Allied Distillers), was aged for 18 years in seasoned oak and sherry casks and bottled at 43% abv in 1994.
