Balblair 38-year-old (D.1966, B.2004) / 44%/ 0.7l
- A true gem from one of the oldest Scottish distilleries released in 2004 and now extremely hard to find.
Product description
An absolute rarity from one of Scotland's oldest distilleries.
The whisky, distilled in 1966, spent 38 long years in sherry barrels made of Spanish oak, which influenced its incredibly rich, one could say "multi-layered" aromatic and flavor palette. In 2004, only 2,400 bottles of this whisky were released on the market, how many of them are still around today - we ourselves would like to know...
Nose: A rich combination of stewed apples and plums, crème brûlée, roasted chestnuts, chocolate, raisins and sherry-soaked oak.
Taste: complex and rich, stewed apples and pears, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, gingerbread with lots of dried fruit, honey and almonds,
Finish: long and balanced, honey, dried fruit, sweet spices and oak.
