Dalmore 12 years old has been the distillery flagship for almost four decades.
The whisky is an excellent value for the money, rich and powerful dram perfect to serve after dinner. Dalmore 12 is a vatting of ex-bourbon (80%) and ex-sherry (20%) cask whiskies married in ex-sherry butts prior to bottling. The distillery was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson and is currently owned by Whyte & Mackay. In 2014 the Philippine brandy producer, Emperador Inc. purchased the latter for £ 430 million.
Nose: rich and powerful, malty, coffee beans, orange zest, mixed nuts, sherry and delicate oakiness.
Palate: rich and complex, creamy maltiness, bitter oranges, prunes, heather, honey, toffee, hints of peat and aniseed.
Finish: long, orange zest, dried apricots, honey and fading hints of peat.
