Out of 14 Glenmorangie warehouses, Cellar 13 is located nearest to the sea.
The Cellar 13 expression was introduced in the late 1990s as a part of Travel Retail range. The whiskies for that bottling were aged from 10 to 12 years in first fill ex-bourbon barrels. The main difference between standard 10 years bottling and Cellar 13 was the influence of sea in the palate of the latter.
Nose: fresh, flowery and grassy, apples, coconut flakes, sweet oats, walnuts, vanilla, white chocolate, hints of cinnamon and mint and breath of sea air.
Palate: malty and flowery with salty tang, vanilla custard, buttered toast, apples, lemon grass, cinnamon, candied ginger and subtle oaky dryness.
Finish: long, malty and spicy with delicate saltiness mingling with vanilla sweetness.
