Product description
Teaninich is a large distillery based in the northern Highlands owned by Diageo. Its last expansion in 2015 doubled its production capacity to almost 10 million litres of spirit per year.
Teaninich is one of the main components of Johnnie Walker blends and is rarely bottled as a single malt. In 2017, on the 200th anniversary of the distillery, the company included Teaninich in its prestigious annual Special Releases. This limited edition contains whisky distilled in 1999 and aged in refill American oak barrels (barrels and hogsheads) for 17 years. Like all whiskies in the series, Teaninich was bottled at cask strength (55.9% abv) and without chill filtration.
Nose: apples, pears, oranges, lemons, rhubarb pie, vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, traces of hay and wax and pleasantly woven notes of oak.
Palate: well balanced, caramel, toffee, maple syrup, green apples, peaches, candied lemon peel, a touch of nutmeg, lemongrass and oak.
Finish: quite long, with notes of apples, peaches, lemongrass, white pepper and oak.
