- Glengoyne is definitely one of the most unique Scottish distilleries.
Product description
Glengoyne is undoubtedly one of Scotland's most unique distilleries. "Highland Lane".
The historic border between the Lowlands and the Highlands runs through the estate and makes the whisky inter-regional – distilled in the Highlands and aged in the Lowlands. Glengoyne distills from malt that has been completely free of phenols, which, along with the mild climate, gives the whisky a more ‘lowland’ than ‘highland’ character. The Glengoyne 8 year old on display here is an ‘old school’ whisky – distilled in the 1960s when the distillery was owned by Lang Brothers, perhaps before it was taken over by Robertson & Baxter in 1965.
Nose: pleasant notes of sherry, oranges, honeydew melon, red apples, pears, raisins, cappuccino, toffee, vanilla and a handful of fresh herbs.
Taste: mild, honey, milk chocolate, raisins, dried figs and apricots, orange liqueur, roasted chestnuts, traces of pepper and nutmeg.
Finish: quite long, with delicate notes of sherry, raisins, chocolate, a mixture of herbal spices and a touch of oak.
