Product description
United Distillers, the previous incarnation of Diageo, introduced Rare Malts in 1995 following the success of its Classic Malts and Flora & Fauna series .
Initially Rare Malts offered whiskies from closed distilleries, but due to very limited supplies they were soon joined by single malts from the group's remaining distilleries. Glen Ord 1974, bottled 1998, is an edition consisting of 6,000 bottles. The whisky was matured in refill bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at cask strength (60.8% abv). The last editions of Rare Malts were released in 2005.
