Jack Wiebers (Lars-Göran Wiebers) is a German whisky importer and distributor based in Berlin (the official name of the company is Jack Wiebers Whisky World).
Wiebers began his career in 1999 and soon established a reputation as a formidable selector and publisher of whiskies. His portfolio includes several series, including Whisky Castle (discontinued in 2013), Old Train Line, Prenzlow Portfolio Collecton, Great Ocean Liners, The Old Paddle Steamer and Wanted. Croftengea is one of several single-matured whiskies from the Loch Lomond Distillery portfolio. It debuted in 2004 and is currently unbottled. The 2006 distillation on display here was aged in a bourbon cask and bottled at 52.1% abv in The Old Paddle Steamer series in an edition of 157 bottles.
Nose: peat smoke, burnt rubber, a bouquet of dry flowers, grapefruit, lemons, baked apples, banana cake and a hint of damp gravel.
Palate: peat smoke, lapsang souchong tea, lemon peel, apples, gooseberries, lemongrass, ground pepper, mint leaf, cigar ash and oak.
Finish: long, with notes of peat smoke and ash, lemon peel, vanilla, white pepper, oak and a trace of rubber.
