Glenfarclas Distillery was built in 1836 by Robert Hay. After his death in 1865, the distillery was purchased by John Grant and his son George, and the Grants remain its owners to this day.
In 2015, the family celebrated the 150th anniversary of acquiring the distillery. Glenfarclas is a highly respected whisky producer among both whisky enthusiasts and blenders, and is one of a handful of distilleries that age most of its whisky in sherry casks. The 10-year-old has been in the company’s range for years, a classic Speysider and a great introduction to the company’s diverse portfolio.
Aroma: quite strong sherry tones, mixed nuts, bitter orange jam, honey, a trace of spices and a barely perceptible note of smoke.
Taste : rich and complex, fruit cake rich in dried fruit, ripe plums and apricots, orange peel, toffee, honey, cinnamon, cloves, peat and oak notes.
Finish: long and warming, spicy, delicate fruity and peaty notes.
