Product description
The Macallan's "Travel" series, also known as "Decades", was compiled at the end of the last century with the aim of showing the evolution of this whisky's character over the four decades of the first half of the 20th century.
Labels depicting a means of transport characteristic of a given decade perfectly emphasize the atmosphere of the era (in the case of the 40s, it is a steam locomotive). To some extent, the series combines the palette of whisky with the economic situation of the world in a given decade. Thus, the first half of the 40s is the tragedy of World War II, followed by a period of rationing of raw materials. The palette of this whisky will be poorer on the one hand, and enriched with peaty and grassy notes on the other.
Aroma: subdued and rather dry, peat, breath of the earth, barn with hay, bouquet of dry flowers, walnuts, a hint of tobacco, toffee, caramel, oak and smoke and ashes in the background.
Taste: delicate, bitterness of peat and oak, hay, roasted chestnuts, apples, gooseberries, a pinch of pepper and a lot of smoke.
Finish : long, yet delicate, with a hint of hay, peat smoke and a trace of fruit.
