Coleburn Distillery commenced operation in 1897 and was taken over 20 years later by Johnnie Walker & Sons, which in turn became part of DCL in 1925.
Coleburn distilled in a single pair of stills, producing 1 million alcohol per year. The distillery suspended operations in 1985 and never resumed, and now houses a hotel, spa, and conference center. Almost all of Coleburn's production went into Johnnie Walker blends , with the only official edition released in 2000 in the Rare Malts collector's series in the amount of 6,000 bottles. This whisky is practically unavailable in independent bottlers' offers.
