Product description
Glenfarclas Distillery is located on Rechlerich Farm, near the town of Ballindalloch. It was founded in 1836 by Robert Hay and has been owned by the Grant family since 1865.
Most Glenfarclas spirits are aged in sherry casks, and the company is opposed to so-called finishing maturation and the use of what it calls “freak casks.” This strategy translates into sales of over 800,000 bottles a year, as well as incredible brand loyalty. The 25-year-old edition can be described as the archetypal old, sherry-tinged Speyside whisky, perfect for serving with an after-dinner cigar.
Nose: rich, although the palette takes some time to open, apricots, raisins, oranges, mixed nuts, nutmeg, cocoa, traces of leather and tobacco and delicate oak tones.
Palate: Less fruity than the nose suggested, delicate sherry notes, honey-roasted almonds, raisins, crème brûlée, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel and a delicate oak bitterness.
Finish: long, quite strong oak notes, dark chocolate, dried fruit, almonds, traces of leather and tobacco.
