Product description
The name Glenfarclas translates from the Gaelic to “valley of green grass.” The distillery was established in 1836 and has been in the Grant family since 1865, with the sixth generation now actively producing whisky.
The distillery has three pairs of stills and can produce 3.4 million liters of alcohol per year, although it has been using about 65% of its capacity recently. The distillery’s basic sales offer includes at least seven age versions, which complement the vintage versions each year. The Glenfarclas 2004 presented here was aged exclusively in sherry casks and bottled in 2017 for a German importer in the Cask Strength Premium Edition series. The edition consisted of 6,000 bottles.
Aroma: slightly waxy barley malt, nuts, orange peel, plums, apricots, a handful of herbs, traces of pencil shavings and a fleeting hint of sulfur.
Taste: slightly spirituous, breakfast cereals, honey, chocolate-coated nuts, raisins, baked apples, pepper, ginger and dried herbs interwoven with bitterness of oak.
Finish: quite long and rather spicy, dark chocolate, mixed nuts, dry herbs, ginger, pepper and oak.
