Product description
Linkwood Distillery has been producing whisky since 1821. It is now owned by Diageo and, following modernisation in 2011-2013, its distilling capacity has increased to 5.6 million litres of alcohol per year.
About 98% of production goes into blends from the group's portfolio, mainly Johnnie Walker, Bell's, White Horse and Haig's. Linkwood is highly regarded by blenders, who include it in the top twelve best malt whiskies. Perhaps for this reason, Diageo currently does not offer an official single malt edition, the last one being 12 years old in the Flora & Fauna series. The Douglas Laing & Co. proposal presented here is a whisky distilled in June 2009 and aged in a refilled bourbon cask no. DL 15377. Bottled in November 2021 at 48.4% abv and without chill filtration in the popular Old Particular series, in an edition of 278 bottles.
Aroma : vanilla, milk fudge, cappuccino, sponge cake, pralines, apples, pears in syrup, orange peel, candied ginger, cinnamon and oak.
Taste : fruity, pears, apples, cherries, orange sorbet, vanilla cream, buttery croissant, ginger, licorice and delicate oak bitterness.
Finish: medium long, malty, with notes of vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, orange peel, licorice, ginger and oak.
