Product description
Tyrconnell whiskey debuted in 1876 in the Watt Distillery range. The brand name recalls the Watt family's racehorse, which unexpectedly won the prestigious National Product Stakes that year.
The Watt Distillery closed in 1925, but the Tyrconnell brand was revived over 60 years later by John Teeling (Cooley Distillery). It is currently in the portfolio of Kilbeggan Distilling Company, a subsidiary of Beam Suntory. The Tyrconnell presented here is a single malt whiskey twice distilled at the Cooley distillery, aged in American white oak barrels for around 10 years and finished in Portuguese Madeira barrels for around 6 months.
