Product description
The Pogues were a Celtic punk band formed in 1982. Their original name was Pogue Mahone (from the Irish póg mo thóin meaning ‘kiss ma arse’). The band broke up more than once and finally dissolved in 2014.
Pogues, “the official Irish whiskey of the legendary band” was introduced in 2015 as collaboration between the band and West Cork Distillers. In 2017 the alliance celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the Pogues Christmas song “Fairytale of New York” with a limited edition of whiskey. The very same year The Pogues Blended Whiskey scored gold medal at the 2017 World Spirit Competition. The success of the blend encouraged the alliance to expand the brand. The Pogues single malt was launched in 2019; the whiskey comes from West Cork Distillers and was aged in American oak ex-bourbon barrels.
