Bushmills 16-year-old Triple Wood / 40%/ 0.7l
Product description
Bushmills is the only commercial whisky distillery in Northern Ireland. Equipped with 10 stills, it produces 4.5 million litres of alcohol per year using the triple distillation method.
Bushmills is currently the third best-selling Irish whiskey, behind Jameson and Tullamore Dew. Bushmills single malt debuted in 1984, a 10-year-old whiskey aged primarily in bourbon casks. The success of Glenmorangie wood finishes in the 1990s inspired Bushmills' owners to create the Triple Wood edition in 1996. The distillates, aged for around 16 years in bourbon and sherry casks (second and third fill), were blended in equal parts and transferred to port casks for 9 months. The whiskey was met with enthusiastic reception and remains in the company's core range to this day.
Aroma: mild, malty and fruity, caramel, breakfast cereals, oranges, strawberry jam, sultanas, traces of marzipan and roasted chestnuts.
Palate : sweet and spicy, cherries, plums, dark chocolate, raisins, breakfast cereals, nut nougat, cinnamon, pepper and toasted oak.
Finish : quite long, vinous, with notes of dark chocolate, raisins, pepper and oak.
