Product description
Sexton Irish Single Malt Whiskey is a relatively new brand that has gained popularity due to its unique character and style. The name "Sexton" refers to the historical role of the sexton - a church grave digger or guardian, symbolizing the care of tradition and craft.
The single malt Sexton debuted in the US in the fall of 2017 as an offering from Proximo Spirits, a company founded 10 years earlier by the Beckmann family from Mexico. The Beckmanns own José Cuervo tequila and, since 2014, the Irish Bushmills Distillery. Sexton is a whiskey “triple distilled in traditional pot stills in the north of Ireland and aged for a minimum of 4 years in first, second and third fill Oloroso sherry butts,” meaning all roads lead to the Bushmills distillery. The whiskey is bottled in black, hexagonal decanters, which undoubtedly catch the eye of a potential buyer. Its name comes from the Latin Sacristanus, meaning “sacristan.”
The Sexton is a new icon among Irish Whiskey created as a result of the eternal struggle between tradition and modernity. It combines full respect for centuries of experience and passion for innovation. It is the work of one of the few women who have achieved a masterful level in creating and composing whiskey - Alex Thomas (Master Blender). In order to achieve an unprecedented and surprising delicacy, and at the same time a wealth of flavor, she has mastered the maturation process shortened to 4 years. For this purpose, European oak barrels are used, seasoned for 16 months, which are then charred from the inside, and in the next stage Oloroso Sherry is matured in them for 2 years. Only then is it sent to Ireland. Unlike most whiskeys, The Sexton is produced from 100% Irish barley, which creates an exceptionally mild Single Malt with a velvety and long finish.
