Product description
West Cork Distillers Co. was founded in 2003 by John O'Connell and Dennis and Ger McCarthy. After ten years the distillery moved to Skibbereen where it operates to this day distilling malt and grain whisky.
Blends are also made on site. The Glengarriff series debuted in late 2017 with two editions – Bog Oak Charred Cask and Peat Charred Cask. The Bog Oak Charred Cask presented here was aged in sherry casks, then finished for 6 months in barrels charred with oak extracted from a bog oak in the Glengarriff forest in southern Ireland. The company uses a patented device specially designed for this purpose by a local blacksmith during the charring process.
