Product description
Connemara, one of dozens of so-called whiskey brands from the Cooley Distillery portfolio, debuted in December 1995 and completely overturned the established stereotype of the profile of Irish whiskey.
Twice distilled from malt with a phenol concentration of around 20ppm, it was in no way a match for Jameson or Bushmills, which set the standards for whiskey from the "Green Isle". In fact, to this day Connemara remains the only widely available Irish whiskey with a smoky-peaty profile. Its "peaty" differs significantly from Islay single malts, showing herbal-floral characteristics. The standard edition of Connemara presented here contains whiskey aged in American oak barrels.
Nose: mild and fresh, lapsang souchong tea, seaweed, pears, apples, lemons, vanilla, damp hay, a pinch of pepper and oak shavings.
Taste: slightly peaty, vanilla, honey, apples, pears, grapefruit, a pinch of ginger and pepper, notes of hay and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of peat smoke, village orchard fruit, a mixture of dried herbs and oak.
