Product description
The Tyrconnell brand was launched in 1876 by Alexander Watt, the owner of Derry-base Watt Distillery.
The whiskey was named after the racehorse owned by the Watt family that won a prestigious horse race The National Product Stakes that year with odds 100 to 1. The Watt Distillery closed in 1925 and Tyrconnell label was dormant for over six decades when it was resurrected by John Teeling, the owner of Cooley Distillery. It is currently owned by Kilbeggan Distilling Company, a subsidiary of Beam Suntory, and still produced at Cooley Distillery. Tyrconnell presented here was aged in white American Oak barrels for about ten years then transferred to ex-port casks for additional six months.
