Product description
Connemara is the only Irish whiskey with a smoke and peat profile from the end of the last century.
It is produced in the Cooley distillery, which has been part of the Beam Suntory group since 2012. Although today Connemara's profile differs significantly from the established standards of Irish whiskey, in the past it was nothing unusual. The areas on the Atlantic coast were rich in peat bogs and the surrounding distilleries regularly used them; it was not until the 19th century that the vast majority of them switched to coal. Connemara debuted in December 1995, the Cask Strength version joined the offer a few years later and is released in small batches. The whiskey is distilled from malt imported from Scotland with a concentration of phenol compounds of 20 ppm, aged in bourbon barrels and bottled with a natural color and without cold filtration.

Palate : peat smoke, vanilla, brown sugar, apples, mirabelle plums, gooseberries, lapsang souchong tea, a hint of lemongrass and pepper.
Finish : fairly long, with notes of peat smoke, orchard fruit, vanilla, caramel, lemon pepper and toasted oak.
