Soon, his creation, Gelston's Old Irish Whiskey, debuted and gained considerable popularity. After Gelston's death in 1869, the company was purchased by Harry J. Neill, a whiskey enthusiast who made his fortune in Australia during the gold rush there. Five generations later, the Gelston brand still belongs to the Neill family, specifically to HJ Neill Ltd.
