Product description

In 1830 Samuel Gelston founded a wine and spirits distribution business in Belfast.

Soon, his creation, Gelston's Old Irish Whiskey, debuted and gained considerable popularity. After Gelston's death in 1869, the company was purchased by Harry J. Neill, a whiskey enthusiast who made his fortune in Australia during the gold rush there. Five generations later, the Gelston brand still belongs to the Neill family, specifically to HJ Neill Ltd. Currently, the Samuel Gelston's brand includes single malt, single pot still and blended whiskeys. The company does not disclose which Irish distillery is the main supplier of whiskey to the Gelston's brand, we have heard unofficially that it is West Cork Distillers. The single malt whiskey presented here was aged in bourbon barrels and bottled at 40% abv. In 2021, it won a silver medal at the World Spirits Competition in San Francisco.

Nose : fresh, malty, vanilla, brown sugar, apples, bananas, peaches, roasted nuts, white pepper, hints of lemongrass, potpourri and oak.
