Product description
Built in 1806 by John Moubray, Cambus Distillery distilled malt whisky for 30 years.
Around 1836, stills replaced the stills and the plant began producing grain whisky. In 1877, Cambus was one of the founders of the DCL (Distillers Company Limited) concern, the latest incarnation of which is Diageo. The distillery has ceased distilling since 1993, but its warehouses are still used to mature Cameronbridge distillates. Cambus has only had one official release (2016), and is also very rarely offered by independent publishers. The Cambus presented here is a proposal from Douglas Laing & Co. in the prestigious XOP series. The whisky was distilled in September 1991 and spent 30 years in a refilled hogshead cask no. DL 15454, and was bottled at cask strength (59.5% abv) in January 2022 in an edition of 278 bottles. (Official tasting note.)
