Aberfeldy Distillery is based in the southern Highlands, in the village with which it shares its name.
Built by John Dewar & Sons in the late 19th century, it now belongs to Bacardi Ltd and produces around 3.4 million liters of distillate per year, most of which goes into Dewar's blends. The Aberfeldy Exceptional Cask Series is the apple of Stephanie MacLeod's eye, Bacardi's blending master, offering extraordinary finishes of this single malt. The whisky presented here, distilled on September 29, 2004, after maturing in traditional oak barrels, finished in a Calvados barrel for one year and nine months. Bottled on April 14, 2022 in an edition of 246 bottles. In recent years, the popularity of the Aberfeldy single malt has increased significantly, its current sales exceed 1.5 million bottles per year.
Nose : apples, pears, banana cake, lemon and orange peel, honey, vanilla, a bit of ginger and white pepper and toasted oak.
Taste: True to the aroma, apples (fresh and baked), pears, greengages, orange jam, coconut flakes, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of apples, pears, coconut flakes, green tea, cinnamon, vanilla and oak.
