Product description
Catoctin Creek is a micro-distillery based in Purcellville, Virginia founded in 2009 by Becky and Scott Harris and produces approximately 40,000 bottles of whiskey per year.
It is the first distillery to open in Loudoun County since Prohibition. The name “Catoctin” comes from the language of the Kittocton people who historically inhabited the area and is said to mean “place where deer live.” Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye is an extraordinary whiskey, made from 100% organically grown rye and certified kosher. It is a young spirit, aged for less than two years, primarily in small, 30-gallon Minnesota oak barrels. Here we present a single barrel version bottled at 40% ABV.
Aroma: sweet cereals, caramel, vanilla, rye bread toast, anise, cloves, cardamom, notes of autumn leaves and hay.
Palate : warm rye bread, caramel, toffee, vanilla, lemongrass, pepper, cinnamon, cloves and subtle oak bitterness.
Finish : medium long, spicy, with notes of pepper, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla and oak.
