Product description
Bourbon Four Roses is distilled according to two recipes – 75 or 60% corn, 20 or 35% rye and 5% malted barley. The company uses five strains of yeast, which allows for 10 flavor profiles. The small batch version presented here debuted in 2006. It is blended from distillates aged for 6-8 years, and an average of 250 barrels are selected for each batch.
Aroma : sweet with a slight spiciness, vanilla, toffee, honey, a slice of wholemeal bread with butter, oranges, cloves, notes of nutmeg and oak.
Taste : pleasantly balanced, vanilla, caramel, honey, rye bread toast, white pepper, a pinch of cinnamon, notes of leather and oak.
Finish : long, with notes of vanilla, toffee, caramel, summer fruits, rye spiciness and toasted oak.
