Michter's US* 1 Unblended American Whiskey Small Batch / 41.7% / 0.7l
Product description
The original Michter's Distillery operated in Shaefferstown, Pennsylvania from 1753 to 1989 and produced, among other things, the now-legendary A.H. Hirsch bourbon, one of the most iconic American whiskeys.
The Michter's brand has returned to the market with the new century, this time offered by Chatham Imports. The company does not provide information about the "Unblended Whiskey": whether it was distilled from a mash in which the main grain was not 51%; whether the fresh distillate was run off the columns at an alcohol content higher than 160 proof; whether it was aged in whole or in part in refill barrels; and whether any coloring or flavoring agents were added to the whiskey. What we do know is that the "Unblended Whiskey" presented here does not contain neutral grain alcohol, in which case it would be an American blend.
Nose : strong notes of caramel and molasses, vanilla, toffee, popcorn, a hint of ginger and a trace of oak.
Palate: sweet, milk fudge, caramel, vanilla, candy, dried apricots and apples, a pinch of pepper and cinnamon and a trace of oak in the background.
Finish : medium long, caramel, vanilla, toffee, some cinnamon and oak.
