Product description
Aged for three years, Platte Valley is one of the oldest representatives of the corn whiskey category.
Similar whiskeys do not have to be matured at all, in fact the only requirement is at least 80% corn in the mash formula and the spirit must be received at no more than 80% ABV. Platte Valley is distilled from 100% corn and aged for 3 years in refill barrels. The brand is owned by McCormick Distilling Co., based in Weston, Missouri, the oldest American distillery west of the Mississippi (built in 1856 by Ben and David Halladay). The plant currently distills only grain alcohol, most likely purchasing corn whiskey from Heaven Hill Distilleries. Platte Valley is presented in extremely attractive stoneware.
Aroma: slightly yeasty and alcoholic, cornflakes, melted butter, vanilla, notes of caramel and cotton candy.
Taste: slightly oily, buttery popcorn, vanilla, fruit drops and a hint of tropical fruit.
Finish : quite short, with notes of popcorn, vanilla and dried fruit.
