Product description
1792 Small Batch Bourbon is a product of Barton 1792 Distillery, since 2009 owned by Sazerac Company of New Orleans.
It was introduced in 2003 as 1792 Ridgewood Reserve, when Barton was owned by Constellation Brands, and withdrawn from the market just few months later. Brown-Forman successfully sued Barton, arguing that customers would confuse Ridgewood with Woodford Reserve. In 2004 it was rebranded and re-launched as 1792 Ridgemount Reserve (both Ridgewood and Ridgemount Reserve were bottled as 8 years old). Another rebranding came in 2015 with dropping the age statement. 1792 is distilled from mash with “higher rye content” and its name refers to the year Kentucky has gained statehood.
Nose: caramel, vanilla, rye bread, hints of hay and licorice, bananas, raisins, cinnamon, allspice and charred oak.
Palate: pretty oaky, white pepper, cornflakes, grapefruits, sour cherries, bunch of garden herbs, and hints of cinnamon and cloves.
Finish: medium long, dry and oaky, with notes of vanilla and cinnamon.
