Product description
Corsair Artisan Distillery was founded in 2008 by two Nashville residents, Derek Bell and Andrew Webber.
Because Tennessee law prohibited such activity, Bowling Green in neighboring Kentucky was chosen. (A sister distillery and brewery opened in Nashville two years later after the law changed.) Corsair experiments a lot, with the most popular being their Triple Smoke Single Malt so far. The Oatrage featured here is also the result of an experimental formula—51% malted oats, 27% malted six-row barley, and 22% coffee malt. This double-distilled whiskey is aged in small, 15-gallon charred oak barrels for 5 to 10 months.
Aroma: pleasantly nutty, vanilla pods, maple syrup, nut nougat, a pinch of pepper, traces of wax and tobacco.
Taste: sweet, cappuccino, vanilla, brown sugar, chocolate hazelnuts, cinnamon and a hint of agave syrup.
Finish: medium long, with notes of oatmeal, chocolate and sugar-roasted nuts.
