Product description
Laphroaig Distillery has been producing whisky almost continuously since 1815. Its single malt is the undisputed sales leader in the Islay region, with 3.7 million bottles (2021).
Today, the distillery is part of the Beam Suntory group and, equipped with seven stills, produces 3.3 million liters of distillate annually. Laphroaig produces malt itself, although its own malting plant covers only 15% of demand, the remaining 85% is supplied by Port Ellen Maltings. The grain malted on site has a concentration of phenol compounds of up to 60 ppm, while malted in Port Ellen from 35 to 45 ppm. The 10-year-old version is aged in bourbon barrels and has been part of the company's basic offer for decades; it wins a prestigious award almost every year. The last one was a double gold medal awarded by the World Spirits Competition jurors in 2022. That same year, the company changed its label designs to very minimalist ones.

Palate: lots of peat smoke, seaweed salad, traces of tar and iodine, vanilla, milk fudge, salted caramel, green apples, lemon pepper and oak.
Finish: quite long, smoky-hospital, with notes of vanilla, salted caramel, summer fruits, a pinch of pepper, ginger and oak.
