Product description
The 3D series debuted in 2004 with The Peat Proposal.
Mòine Mhòr was released a year later, and was based on three vintages, 1989, 1998 and 2001, distilled from malts with different phenolic strengths and aged in three types of casks – ex-sherry, ex-bourbon first fill and ex-bourbon refill (hence its name ‘3D’). The youngest was also the most ‘peated’, used later in Port Charlotte editions. The Gaelic ‘Mòine Mhòr’ roughly translates to ‘abundance [or wealth] of peat’.
Aroma: fresh and smoky, malty with a hint of nuttiness, vanilla, caramel, orchard fruit, traces of heated tar.
Taste: well-balanced, slightly oily, "richly" peaty, fruity-tart, vanilla, toasted oak with a delicate note of malt.
Finish: medium long, peaty, oak bitterness, traces of seaweed and iodine.
