Caol Ila 18 years old / 43% / 0.7l
- Caol Ila is one of the biggest Diageo’s malt distilleries with capacity of 6.5 million liters of spirit per annum.
Product description
Caol Ila is one of the largest malt distilleries in the Diageo portfolio, with an annual capacity of 6.5 million litres of alcohol.
Until the end of the 20th century, the local single malt was not widely available, currently the brand's sales exceed 600 thousand bottles per year. The breakthrough came in 2002 thanks to two editions - 12 and 18 years old. The older of them is currently experiencing limited supply due to growing demand and limited warehouse stocks. The 18-year-old is a mild "islander", whose smoky and peaty side has been softened by time.
Aroma: fragrant and subtle, vanilla, licorice, beeswax, hay, peat, traces of oak and mint.
Taste: mild, creamy and pleasantly balanced, vanilla, milkshakes, almonds, cereals, grapefruit, a hint of smoke and sun-drying grass.
Finish: long, perfectly balanced notes of peat, citrus and oak.
