Ileach is a peated single malt whisky distilled on the island of Islay.
The brand is owned by The Highlands & Islands Scotch Whisky Co., a subsidiary of The Vintage Malt Whisky Company founded in 1992 by Brian Crook. The brand reminds another whisky from the same portfolio, Finlaggan. In both cases we know the region the whisky was distilled without any information regarding identity of the source. We also don’t know if there is just one supplier for the brand or is there more. Whatever is the case, Ileach is certainly one of the best valued whiskies on the market.
Nose: fresh and smoky with delicate herbal notes, traces of hay, caramel, salted peanuts and hints of oak.
Palate: smooth, malty, peat smoke, hints of salt and pepper, touch of fruit and oak.
Finish: medium long, peat smoke, iodine and touch of caramel.
