Product description
Laphroaig Triple Wood debuted in 2008 in the Travel Retail chain, and three years later became a permanent part of the core offering.
As the name suggests, the whisky was triple matured – after an initial period in standard bourbon casks, it was matured in small, 125-litre quarter casks and then in large, 500-litre ex-Oloroso sherry butts. Naturally, each maturation stage brought something unique to the aromatic and flavour palette of the final product. Laphroaig Triple Wood is bottled at 48% ABV and without chill filtration.
Aroma : peat smoke, buttered toast, toffee, honey-roasted nuts, grapes, dried plums and apricots, coconut flakes, a trace of tobacco and delicate hospital notes.
Palate: peaty with shy notes of sherry, vanilla cream, toffee, raisins, prunes, almonds, a pinch of ginger and nutmeg and some smoke in the background.
Finish: quite long, smoky and sweet, caramel, dark chocolate and a pinch of sea salt.
