Product description
This expression of Ardbeg was named after ferocious whirlpool, located north of islands of Scarba and Jura.
The whirlpool creates terrific inflows that result in waves over 10 meters high. Not too many dared to swim there, more than a few fell into Poseidon’s arms after short bathe, thankfully one of the survivors was George Orwell of “The Animal Farm” and “1984” fame, rescued after brief encounter with the vortex. In 2008 Corryvreckan replaced widely admired Airigh Nam Beist and is currently part of the Ardbeg’s core range. The whisky, just like the whirlpool it derives its name from, is intense and powerful. It was aged in American and French oak casks and bottled at natural strength (57.1% abv). In 2010 Corryvreckan was named the World's Best Single Malt Whisky at the World Whisky Awards. Despite whisky’s high alcohol content we suggest not to add any water, just sip it neat and let the Corryvreckan pull you into the abyss…
