Product description
In 2005, Jim Beam Global, part of the Fortune Brands conglomerate, acquired Laphroaig Distillery.
In a few years, the distillery's commercial offer has more than doubled, enriched, among others, with interesting editions bottled without specifying age. Laphroaig PX Cask debuted in 2011 in the offer for the Travel Retail chain , where it replaced the Triple Wood version. Three types of casks take part in the maturation process - traditional bourbon casks, 125-liter quarter casks , and finally casks from sweet Pedro Ximénez sherry. Each of them, of course, contributes to the aromatic and flavor palette of the final product.
Nose: quite strong sherry notes, dried figs, dates and apricots, marzipan, honey-roasted almonds, toffee and some peat smoke in the background.
Taste: distinct notes of peat and oak, blood oranges, figs, apricots, licorice, traces of tobacco and leather, toffee, a bit of anise and nutmeg.
Finish: quite long, with strong sherry notes, peat smoke and a hint of spice.
