Product description
“Moch” means “dawn” in Gaelic, and “Caol Ila Moch” roughly translates to “Dawn on the Strait of Islay.”
This whisky is a rather unconventional edition of Caol Ili, intended in 2011 for members of The Friends of Classic Malts society , and soon available in specialist whisky shops. This is the first Caol Ili proposal, where the only priority in the selection of barrels was the taste elements, and not the age of distillates or the type of barrels used for maturation. Moch is a proposal that is definitely milder than the standard 12 year old, friendly whisky with an interesting evolution of the taste palette.
Aroma: fresh and expressive, malty, breakfast cereals, green apples, lemongrass, vanilla, a bit of tar, peat and sea breeze.
Taste: initially very sweet, creamy, brown sugar, honey, traces of peat, lemon pepper, burnt croutons and a slight bitterness of oak.
Finish: medium long, vanilla, toffee, and in the distance peat smoke.
