Laphroaig 10 Year Old Original Cask Strength Batch # 016 / 58.5% / 0.7l

Laphroaig has been the most popular island single malt for years, with sales of almost 4 million bottles a year.

The distillery produces its own malt, although its own malting house covers only 15% of demand, the remaining 85% is supplied by Port Ellen Maltings. The grain malted on site has a concentration of phenol compounds of up to 60 ppm, from the Port Ellen malting house from 35 to 45 ppm. Laphroaig 10 year old Cask Strength debuted in 1995 and is still a favorite version of fans of this whisky. This whisky, aged in bourbon barrels, has been on the market in limited batches since 2009. The Batch 014 presented here hit the market in December 2022. Currently, the distillery is using its full potential, producing 3.3 million liters of distillate per year.

Nose: sweet and smoky, vanilla pudding, caramel, mocha, plum jam, smoked bacon, salted peanuts, white pepper, notes of tobacco, tar and charred oak.

Palate: peat smoke, sea breeze, vanilla, toffee, milk chocolate, salted caramel, lemon peel, grilled pork neck, white pepper, seaweed salad and oak.

Finish: quite long, with notes of peat smoke, iodine, sea salt, caramel, vanilla, smoked meat, pepper and oak.
