Product description
Destilírias Manuel Acha SA is the oldest company still in operation in the Basque Country and the oldest family-owned company in Spain.
The "Factory of Spirits" was founded in 1831 in Bilbao, and in 1884 its headquarters were moved to Amurrio, located in the heart of the picturesque Ayala Valley. The company specializes in liqueurs, vermouths and syrups, and only began producing whiskey in the new millennium. It hits the market under the name Haran (Haran means "valley" in the Basque language) and, according to the company, its formula dates back to the late 19th century. At that time, obtaining peat was almost impossible and smoldering oak wood was used in the malting process. The 12-year-old Haran presented here, after basic maturation, finished for an unspecified time in sherry barrels, after which it was bottled in 2022 in a limited edition of 2,440 bottles.
