Product description
Scapegrace Distilling Company was founded in 2014 by two amateur musicians from New Zealand (brothers-in-law), Mark Neal and Daniel McLaughlin.
The company was originally called Rogue Society Distilling and produced gin; in 2017, it changed its name because it overlapped with the name of the brewery in Newport. The company is currently building a new distillery, which is expected to be operational in autumn 2023. The previous year, in October, it debuted Scapegrace single malt whisky. It was distilled at a contract distillery based on the South Island from locally grown Laureate barley and water flowing down from the New Zealand Alps. In the case of Fortitude V, the barley was smoked with manuka wood. The whisky was aged in 100-litre virgin French oak barrels for three years, and the production ran 8,643 bottles.
