Product description
Isfjord single malt is a product of Braunstein Distilleri based in Køge near Copenhagen, the first Danish micro-distillery founded by brothers Michael and Claus Braunstein.
The plant has been operating since 2005, and began distilling whisky (50,000 liters per year) two years later, using locally grown barley (which covers about 40% of demand). Braunstein is probably the only distillery that processes ice caps into water, which, torn off from the Arctic permafrost, drift into the sea. Such ice can be up to 180,000 years old, and the water that is created as a result of its melting is characterized by softness and freshness. Isfjord Arctic Single Malt No. 1 is a whisky distilled from malted barley without peat and aged exclusively in Oloroso sherry barrels.
Aroma: quite sweet, barley malt, milk chocolate, caramel, vanilla, dried plums and dates and a trace of raspberry jam.
Taste: vanilla cream, caramel, toffee, chocolate-coated raisins, dried figs, a touch of cinnamon and cloves.
Finish: medium long, with notes of dried fruit, caramel and honey.
