Product description
Tokinoka is a blended whisky from Eigashima Shuzo portfolio, the owner of White Oak Distillery and producer of Akashi whisky.
The company was founded in 1888 to produce sake; in 1919 they obtained license to produce whisky but it took more than four decades to get started. The current distillery was built in 1984 and has been producing whisky for a few months a year while the main source of revenue being sake and shōchu. Tokinoka blend is the creation of Akito Ueda, the company master blender; we do not know its formula, most likely it is built around Akashi single malt, the supplier of grain whisky remains unknown.
Nose: light and smooth, breakfast cereals with honey, brown sugar, green apples, walnuts, hints of vanilla and oak shavings.
Palate: fruity and mildly grassy, sweet cereals, vanilla, maple syrup, milk chocolate, grapes, greengages and dash of white pepper.
Finish: medium long, with notes of cereals, vanilla, dash of mixed spice and oak tannins.
