Product description
Kujira Ryukyu is a single grain whisky from the portfolio of Shin Group, a company established in 2012 with the mission of promoting "unique Japanese alcoholic beverages".
In a few years, the company has expanded incredibly and now its products are available in over 40 countries. Kujira is indeed a “unique alcoholic beverage,” a whisky distilled from 100% rice (an Indica variety). Whiskies from at least three distilleries are bottled under the Kujira brand; the Ryukyu Whisky 10 years old presented here comes from Masahiro Shuzo and was aged in virgin American white oak barrels (the 10-year-old Bourbon Cask contains whisky from the Shinzato Distillery, while the Ryukyu Whisky 12 years old Sherry Cask and 20 years old Bourbon Cask are from Kumesan Distillery). Producer’s tasting note.
Nose : rich and sweet, slightly buttery, caramel, a mixture of spices, a drop of resin and distinct notes of bourbon.
Palate : Sweet and buttery, caramel, licorice and toasted oak precede the arrival of a wave of spices led by cinnamon and cloves.
Finish: long, combining equal parts sweetness, spicy notes and oak bitterness.
