Product description
Ledaig, Gaelic for "peaceful haven", is a single malt from the picturesque Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, distilled from malt with a phenol concentration of 35-40 ppm.
The distillery was built in 1798 by local merchant John Sinclair. It has been out of production for around a hundred years, with the longest periods being 1837-1878 and 1930-1972. From 1972-1975 it operated as the Ledaig Distillery, but that business went bankrupt. Today, Tobermory is owned by Burn Stewart Distillers and produces around 750,000 litres of spirit per year, around half of which is Ledaig. This 2007 Gordon & MacPhail edition in the popular Connoisseurs Choice series was distilled in 1990 and aged in refill sherry casks.
