In recent years, Jura whisky has experienced an incredible rise in popularity, with annual sales increasing from 350,000 bottles to almost 2 million since 2010.

This was certainly due to a clever marketing strategy, but also to the improvement in the quality of the whisky itself – at the turn of the century, Jura’s warehouses held a large amount of inferior distillates that were poured into fresh bourbon barrels. In the spring of 2018, the basic offer was refreshed, the Origin, Superstition and Prophecy editions disappeared and were replaced by 10-, 12- and 18-year-old versions, and the Journey and Seven Wood, bottled without an age statement, were also added. Jura 12 years old is a whisky aged in white American oak barrels and finished in Oloroso sherry barrels.

Aroma: fruity-sweet, vanilla, caramel, peaches, oranges, candied fruit, raisins, a bit of hay and oak and a distant note of smoke.

Palate : Honeyed breakfast cereal, vanilla, milk chocolate, candied orange peel, baked apples, walnuts and subtle oak bitterness.

Finish: Medium long, with notes of fruity sweetness, salted nuts, a pinch of pepper and oak.
