Product description
The Sinclair Series is Tobermory Distillery’s fall 2020 offering.
Its patron is the distillery’s founder, John Sinclair. His application for land lease and permission to build a distillery in 1797 was rejected, but thanks to his natural persistence, Sinclair convinced the local authorities to support the project and Tobermory Distillery began production a year later. The first entry in the new series is the Ledaig Rioja Cask Finish presented here. Supposedly, over 400 years ago, a Spanish galleon carrying gold and valuables sank off the coast of the Isle of Mull, and this whisky is dedicated to his memory – aged in American oak barrels and finished in red wine barrels from the Rioja region.
Nose: fruity and smoky, red berries, grapes, dry rose petals, vanilla, milk chocolate, white pepper, licorice and a hint of salty breeze.
Palate : peat smoke and sea breeze, raspberries, blackberries, vanilla, cocoa, notes of cinnamon, pepper and lemongrass.
Finish: medium long, with notes of peat smoke, red berries, caramel, vanilla salt and a hint of pepper.
