The poet held Scotch whisky in very high esteem, what he admitted in his Ode to Scotch Drink written in 1785.
The original Robbie Burns Famed Old Scotch Whisky was created by now dissolved RH Thompson & Co. Ltd in the early 1960s but has never been recognized by the World Burns Federation. In 2000 the Federation granted Arran Distillery lifetime patronage of their organization. The Robert Burns brand consists of single malt and blended whisky, both produced by Arran Distillers Ltd. The former is bottled at 43% abv without age statement. As Robert Burns said in 1787, “here is a bottle and an honest friend!”
Nose: malted barley, vanilla, caramel, bunch of wild flowers, apples, pears, orange peel, coconut water, salted peanuts, hints of hay and oak.
Palate: honeyed cereals, vanilla, cappuccino, apples, pears, lime curd, salted caramel, dash of white pepper and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, caramel, apples, lemon peel, lemon pepper and oak.
